Adam Dunn- Seeing Adam Dunn get more than one hit in a game is like seeing a double rainbow. Yesterday, he had FOUR, including 2 homers.
Jose Bautista- Ailing wrist? What ailing wrist? While R.A Dickey was exploding, Joey Bats tried to keep them in the game with 2 homers and 5 RBI’s.
Brandon Phillips- Anytime you get some power out of your DFS second basemen, you are a happy guy and that’s exactly what Phillips gave with a homer and SIX!!! RBI last night.
Max Scherzer- Somehow, Doug Fister actually lost a game to the worst franchise in American professional sports. He didn’t kill you, but he certainly didn’t deliver to his fullest. I don’t expect Scherzer to have that problem. Scherzer has more games with only 1 earned run allowed than multiple and has clearly elevated his game. More importantly, he absolutely destroys lefties, which KC’s lineup is full of. Lefties are hitting .187/.244/.311 with a .243 wOBA against him. That is seriously pitiful. If you want to spend on starting pitching today, this is the way to go.
Wily Peralta- Hey remember when the Marlins were scoring a bunch of runs and they won those games and it was awesome? Yeah? That’s over now. Over the last 7 days, they are again MLB’s worst offense, with only 15 runs scored and a miniscule 3.9 BB%. Wily Peralta takes the mound versus the fish tonight, with a sterling 6.16 ERA. Yuck. Peralta is not a good pitcher, but the Marlins don’t have any good hitters other than a hobbled Giancarlo Stanton. Go cheap with Stanton and prosper.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia- This Boston offense is something right now. They’ve scored 52 runs the last 7 days and aren’t going to slow down against the artist formerly known as Fausto Carmona tonight. Salty is good option because he is slugging .605 versus righties.
David Ortiz- Not going to recommend a full on Boston stack but uhhh… Ortiz murders righties (.752 SLG%) and Hernandez is giving up 1.51 homers per nine innings. Easy start at first base.
Matt Carpenter- Matt Carpenter might be the best hitter on the Cards roster and he gets a dream matchup, leading off against rightie Jeremy Hefner. Hefner hasn’t been as awful as I though, but he allows lefties a .414 wOBA, which is astronomical. I expect Carpenter to be on base at least 4 times tonight.
Miguel Cabrera- So, I said to start Miggy yesterday against KC because LOL ROYALS and he homered. Gonna go ahead and go back to the well on this one with Miggy facing the always awful Wade Davis who is allowing 1.45 homers per nine.
J.J Hardy- Jason Vargas away from home? .356 wOBA given to opposing hitters, 1.33 homers per nine given up to opposing righties. Hardy has been having a quietly solid year, slugging .594 versus lefties with only 9 of his 29 strikeouts coming versus left handed pitchers.
