Andrew McCutchen- It would seem that Cutch is finally breaking out of his slow start to the season. Last night, Cutch went a perfect 4 for 4 with a stolen base.
Jose Altuve- Big day for such a little guy! Jose went 2/3 with a home run, a walk and a stolen base.
Chase Utley- Utley got on track versus the Giants by going 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 runs scored.
Clayton Kershaw- There are several ways to approach the philosophy of daily fantasy baseball. Certain players like to find value with starting pitcher, find the right matchups, the right over/under and hope for the win. On the other hand, I tend to follow the philosophy of starting stud pitchers such as Kershaw and Verlander. When Kershaw takes the mound against a team like the Diamondbacks without much punch, he is an absolute must start.
Matt Moore- Unlike the Diamondbacks, the Blue Jays do have a few hitters who would scare any starting pitcher. However, the best hitters for the Blue Jays strike out alot and Moore has a 27% K rate. Moore also gets the fortune of throwing against Ricky Romero is barely a AA pitcher at this point, giving him a great chance at a win.
Evan Longoria- Ladies and gentleman, start your Rays. As I mentioned above, they get to face Ricky Romero. Longoria has the proper right handed batter, left handed pitcher matchup and is the best hitter on the Rays squad and will bat in the 3 hole.
Carlos Pena- If you are starting both Moore and Kershaw, you are going to need to save money at some spots. One way to do so is to start Pena against the very underwhelming Joe Blanton. It helps that Pena is 5 for 10 against Blanton in his career.
Lance Berkman- If you do decide you want to spend money on first base, you have to go with verified Kyle Lohse killer Lance Berkman. Berkman can hit from either side of the plate and he has hit 4 home runs off of Lohse in his career.
Robinson Cano- Juan Nicasio is a very mediocre right handed pitcher and Robinson Cano is an excellent left handed hitter. They are playing in the best hitters park in all of baseball and Cano is going to dominate tonight.
George Kottaras- Hear me out on this one! Kottaras has played a strikingly small amount since the start of the season but in the limited plate appearances he has had, he has been very productive. Tonight, he’ll play against Chris Tillman, a rather bland righty in the positive hitting environment.
