Dan Uggla- It doesn’t really get much stronger than 2 hits, both for homers, and 2 other plate appearances ending in a walk.
Matt Holliday- It would appear that Holliday was tired being the 3rd best hitting man on his own team, so he went 2/4 with a double and a homer.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia- Post-post hype sleeper! After years of bouncing around and being put in platoons, Salty is finally really hitting the ball. Last night’s multi-homer game propelled him into ‘Stud-hood’.
Hisashi Iwakuma- I’m taking Iwakuma over Clayton Kershaw all across the board tomorrow. I basically take Kershaw every time he takes the mound because his fantasy floor is so high, but Iwakuma is clearly the best play tomorrow. His home ERA is 1.08. That is insane number is complimented by a K% of 26.6% at home, versus the Astros league worst 25.4% K rate. Iwakuma’s upside is crazy high and his floor is high as well. Easy start.
Doug Fister- Fister’s price is always a bit lower than a real ace, but that is exactly what he has been since being traded to Detroit. He has a ERA of 3.27 and is facing a very bad offense tomorrow. The Royal’s play has gotten a little bit better lately, but playing a series against the Twins and Astros will do that to a team. Fister is an elite pitcher facing a bad offense and he will be featured on many winning fantasy teams today.
Carlos Santana- Santana has cooled off from his earlier torrid pace, but is still placing well. Tonight, he faces Josh Lindbloom, who is allowing a .558 wOBA to left handed hitters. It’s also nice to take a switch hitter in a game where you are fairly certain the starter won’t make it more than 5 innings, because they have no real disadvantage against specialist relievers.
Adam Lind- Your major league leader in batting average over the last 30 days? Adam Lind. He’ll face Dylan Axelrod tonight, who has some mild reverse splits but hasn’t over powered anyone. Lind is hitting .324 versus righties with 15 extra base hits. He makes for a solid (and very affordable play) tonight versus the White Sox.
Jurickson Profar- There are starts where Scott Kazmir is a reasonable fantasy asset and looks like a major league pitcher. Against the Rangers, in Arlington Ballpark, is not going to be one of them. Profar is only hitting .211 off of lefties so far, and that’s partly why you will be able to grab him so cheap. I expect a true explosion from Kazmir tonight, and Profar will take part.
Miguel Cabrera- When you save money at other positions, you have the wonderful option of subbing in Miggy against the woeful pitching of the Kansas City Royals.
Yasiel Puig- I don’t know when the fun of this epic run is going to be over, but I know that I’m enjoying it. Put Puig in your lineup versus the Diamondbacks and Wade Miley one more time before his price reaches unaffordable ceiling.
