Adrian Beltre- In the right matchup versus a bad hitter, Beltre is fun to watch go. Last night posted an insane box score, going 4/5 with a homerun, 2 doubles, 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.

Jose Bautista- Joey Bats was having none of what any Tampa Bay Ray was trying to throw him. He finished up the series last night by going 2 for 4 with 2 home runs.

Emilio Bonafacio- In honor of the ESPN Fantasy Focus Baseball podcast, I have to inform you guys that this performance was not bonafide by Bonafacio. Don’t expect this often, but last night Emilio went 3/4 with a double and a homer.

5/13 Pitchers

Anibal Sanchez- A match made in heaven for Sanchez. Astro’s batters strike out 26.8% of the time. That is an astronomically disgusting figure for the Texans but good for DFS players who know to high K% pitchers against them. Sanchez’s K% in 2013 is inflated due to his 17 strike out game, but still, 31.5% is really, really impressive. Tonight is bereft of truly elite options, but Sanchez will be my #1 pick across all platforms.

Jordan Zimmerman- Besides Zimmerman, there are 3 other pitching options tonight: A.J Burnett versus Milwaukee, Lance Lynn versus the Mets and Mike Minor in Arizona versus the Diamondbacks. Of all these options, Zimmerman has the best matchup. Despite a weaker bottom of the order, Milwaukee still has professional hitters in the heart of their lineup, as evidenced by their 18th ranked offense. Lynn and Zimmerman are the closest and if Lynn is signifcantly cheaper where you play, go for him. However, Minor versus Arizona isn’t really a consideration. Zimmerman gets to face the 3rd worst offense in the major leagues. Matt Kemp hasn’t been Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzales is hurt and Carl Crawford won’t hurt you all by himself. Zimmerman also gets to face Josh Beckett who has just been really, really bad, giving him a solid shit at a win.

5/13 Hitters

Mike Trout- I hate that I have to do this for my favorite team, but when Luis Mendoza takes the mound, it’s time to stack the opposing team. Players I would play include Pujols, Trumbo and Howie Kendrick. Trout takes the honors of #1 play of the night, however, because of his .351 OBP and .510. There will be men on base all night and Trout should be able to bang some runs in and score some against Mendoza’s 6.38 ERA.

Alex Gordon- Funny how this works! The Royals are throwing out Mendoza and the Angels are playing Joe Blanton. Blanton is better at home, posting lower hitting percentages in the confines of Los Angeles, but he still has a plus 5 ERA there. He also gives up a .352 batting average to lefties, making Alex Gordon a prime target in today’s lineup. I wouldn’t hate playing Hosmer or Moustakas either.

Dan Uggla- Uggla is scorching hot at the moment, and most talking heads believed that he has fixed some mechanical issues with his swing. Tonight he gets to face Wade Miley, in a hitters park. While I believe the baseline of talent that Miley has shown in his big league career, at Chase Field, Uggla will have an advantage. Not only that, but Uggla has already knocked a home run off of Miley in only 3 at bats.

Prince Fielder- The Astros are rolling out one Mr. Bud Norris who is the definition of an underwhelming right handed pitcher. Fielder is swinging a hot bat and will easily take advantage of Norris; .474 SLG% allowed to left handed batters. Other left handed batters for the Tigers deserve consideration as well.

Alex Rios- Rios will have a depressed price most places as he hasn’t exactly been lighting the world on fire. However, the White Sox get to face Pedro Hernandez, who is actually a former White Sock himself. Hernandez has bounced around the minors since 2009 and looks pretty much like an organization arm. His fastball averages 89 MPH and looks to be pretty homer prone. Start Rios with confidence.

Yesterday’s Studs

Klay Thompson- While Steph Curry did end up playing, it didn’t matter much. Klay fully activated God Mode, ignoring wide out Curry 3′s on the way to draining 6 three pointers and contributing across the board.

John Wall- It would appear that Wall has joined Lebron, Durant, Westbrook, Curry, Kobe Bryant and Monta Ellis as a guard that can go off for 60 on a given night. Wall had a career night with 47 points, 7 boards and 8 assists.

Yesterday’s Values

Brian Roberts- Chances are, if you played Roberts from yesterday’s Value Plays, you are a little bit richer. Roberts burnt the Denver Nuggets for 13 points and EIGHTEEN assists.

Kyle O’Quinn- For the 2nd day in a row, there was a dirt cheap starting center option and for the 2nd day in a row, that option met value. O’Quinn had 12 points on 7 shots in addition to 6 rebounds.

Today’s Plays

Point Guards

1. Chris Paul- On a short handed night, go with the guaranteed points. I normally don’t like playing Paul, but he deserves this spot tonight.

2. Jose Calderon- Minnesota has really bad point guard defense and Calderon is playing good ball right now.

3. Ricky Rubio- More expensive than I like, but still a decent play.

Value Play: J.J Barea is always a cheap guy to take on a short night who has 30 point upside.

Shooting Guards

1. Brandon Knight- Super cheap after coming back from injury, count on Knight to produce solid numbers tonight.

2. O.J Mayo- Shooting guard is sort of ugly tonight, but Mayo has upside.

3. J.R Smith- You never know when he is gonna go off for 40, but I do know that Paul Pierce or Courtney Lee can’t hang with J.R defensively; they don’t have enough lateral agility.

Value Play: Iman Shumpert is still getting big minutes and getting healthy. Solid play for very cheap versus Boston.

Small Forward

1. Carmelo Anthony- Like him more than Pierce tonight. Boston-New York battles are awesome, and it’s Melo who comes up big tonight.

2. Paul Pierce- PP won’t be far behind, it might just take him more shots to do it.

3. Matt Barnes- Just so productive and the Mavs defense inspires no confidence especially because Barnes will play while Shawn Marion sits.

Value Play: Kyle Singler is a strong play for cheap, just considering how bad Minnesota’s wing defense is while AK-47 sits.

Power Forward

Jeff Green is the #1 play for the night.

1. Jeff Green- Uncle Jeff has entered the J.R zone, where he becomes a must play when he receives starting minutes due to injury. #1 play tonight the Knicks tonight.

2. Blake Griffin- A very good player against a very weak front line.

3. Dirk Nowitzki- To tall for Blake, to smart for DeAndre. Dirk will eat tonight.

Value Play: Lamar Odom gives a floor of around 10 points, with upside for more if VDN decides to give him 30 minutes.

Center

1. Greg Monroe- The only stud that I normally play at either of the big positions today, I would consider Monroe one of the 3 players  you have to have in your lineup tonight (besides Jeff Green and Brandon Knight).

2. Nikola Pekovic- Banging against Monroe, Pek should be able to put up something close to his usual numbers, especially when Monroe is sitting.

3. DeAndre Jordan- With rumors that Tyson Chandler may be coming back tonight, Kenyon Martin is not a safe play. That makes DeAndre the default #3.

Value Play: Brandan Wright has been playing really good basketball. He’s scored in double digits 6 of his last 10 with a 23 point game thrown in. None of the Clippers big men will give him much resistance, either.
