Don’t have time to sit down and read the hundreds of quality Fantasy Football articles published every single day? It’s cool. In 2013, the most efficient way to get your Fantasy news and analysis is to listen to Fantasy Football podcasts while on the car, while playing some 2K13 or Madden, or while getting ready to fall asleep for the night.
The 7 Best Fantasy Football Podcasts
There are a lot of podcasts out there, but here are my seven favorites for your listening pleasure.
Rumford Johnny and Ryan Forbes host the most entertaining, star studded podcast of the entire industry. Weekly guests have included Field Yates, Gregg Rosenthal, Evan Silva and Pat Daughtery. Heavy on the analysis, but also heavy on the humor, the 2 Mugs pod is the absolute cream of the crop.
Matthew Berry, Nate Ravitz, Stephania Bell and PodVader are in charge of the Motherships fantasy-centric podcast and they do a hell of a job week in and week out. While they have been light on the shows this offseason while Matthew has written and promoted his book, as the season gets closer, the crew will be providing daily insight for the both the casual and more serious fantasy owner.
One of the only fantasy football podcasts that actually goes year round! Cecil Lammey, Sigmund Bloom, Matt Waldman, and Jene Bramel provide analysis every Thursday night, all year long. Sigmund Bloom hosts my personal favorite show, On The Couch, which is normally posted Tuesday nights. If you approach the game from a deeper level, On The Couch is for you.
If you subscribe to the PFF feed on iTunes, you get 4 different podcasts. The Dynasty Slant, with Scott Sprat and Bryan Fontaine, the Quick Snap with Alex Miglio and Austin Lee, the Mike and Taz show and the The Nickel with Jeff Ratcliffe. All of the podcasts are heavy on the analysis and exactly what the hardcore fantasy player needs.
The finest dynasty-centric podcast on the market. Doug Veatch and Chad Parsons bring their metric-centered analysis to the dynasty world and listeners will easily see the advantages on their dynasty squads as the offseason progresses.
Not into drafting a quarterback in the first round? Want to know the best streaming defenses? C.D Carter and JJ Zachariason provide a hilarious entertaining podcast with recommendations each and every week on what players and defenses to start each week.
Allow me a little bit of shameless plugging. If you have time to listen to all of those other Fantasy Football podcasts, then you may have some time to listen to myself and Coleman diagnosing and analyzing all aspects of the Fantasy Football world.
Editor’s Note: Mattek obviously forgot to list my “Fantasy Fatcast” podcast that I do with SI.com’s Eric Mack each week! Honest mistake. Also, we’re not as good as these seven anyway — but we’re working on it!
